STAR FAVES:
Light up the night: Light displays will illuminate Amherstburg’s two main parks — Toddy Jones Park and King’s Navy Yard Park — from Nov. 15 through Jan. 4. The festival features playful light displays for kids and families to enjoy along the Detroit River. Opening night festivities kick off Saturday at 5 p.m. in downtown Amherstburg for the Super Santa 5K Run, followed by the traditional tree-lighting ceremony and fireworks show.
Whisky lovers: Step inside the den at Wolfhead Distillery in Amherstburg for an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour where craft meets spirit. Explore the distillery, barrel room, and bottling line while learning the secrets behind award-winning whisky, vodka, and gin. Sip, swirl, and sample five of the top-selling spirits — all while getting the inside scoop from the pros who make the magic happen. The 45-minute tour runs Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7781 Howard Ave. Spaces are limited, so register by calling 519-726-1111.
Holiday warm up: Enjoy an afternoon of festive family fun at the Carnegie Arts & Culture Centre in Kingsville. Meet the mischievous Grinch and a jolly Elf, sing along with carolers, and treat yourself to hot chocolate and complimentary popcorn. Kids can get crafty at the activity table, test their skills on an interactive hockey game, and capture the moment in a photo booth. The event runs from 3:30-5:30 p.m. ahead of the Fantasy of Lights Parade at 28 Division St S.
Turn up the music: Think of it like a regular game of bingo, only the numbers are replaced with songs. Mack Flash is bringing Music Bingo night to Walkerville Brewery on Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. Host Francois Jacques will play short clips of well-known tracks, and players will search their cards to find the matching titles. Trivia questions and bonus combos can earn extra squares. Anyone who completes a line or pattern has a shot at taking home a price. Play individually or bring a team.
FOR THE KIDS:
Catch Santa’s grand arrival: Santa’s trading in his sleigh for some serious style — flying into town by helicopter to kick off the holiday season. Join the fun at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, in the parking lot in front of The Canadian Brewhouse at Devonshire Mall as the Windsor Optimist Youth Band sets the festive mood and Windsor Fire and Rescue joins in with Sparky’s Toy Drive and more holiday surprises.
Life in technicolor: Windsor Light Music Theatre presents a vibrant and family-friendly production, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat from Nov. 14 to Nov. 16. This musical tells the story of Joseph, a young dreamer, in a colourful world. The show features upbeat songs, choreography. Visit chryslertheatre.com for more information. Tickets range from $40 to $50.
PLAN AHEAD:
The Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) Holiday Train chugs into Windsor this month. The train will be making a stop in Windsor on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the CPKC Railway in the area of Erie Street West and Janette Avenue around 5 p.m. Enjoy bright Christmas lights and decorations as well as a free concert by Smash Mouth and JJ Wilde.
