The Blue Jays pursuit of their first World Series title in 32 years fell short, but one lucky Oshawa resident just won the biggest 50/50 jackpot in baseball history.
The Jays Care Foundation announced on its website that Aric from Oshawa was the winner of the $25,010,057 jackpot with an unofficial winning raffle number of 867814466.
The winner was expected to receive a special phone call from Blue Jays legend Joe Carter.
Initially expected to reach $7.5 million as per a JaysCare5050 email sent out on Oct. 30, the take-home prize swiftly surpassed $10 million before the weekend, and more than doubled in size by the time ticket sales ended at the conclusion of Game 7 on Saturday, Nov. 1.

In addition to a grand prize totalling more than $25 million, the winners of the bonus raffle, which includes a once-in-a-lifetime cruise around the world for two and a 2026 dream west coast Blue Jays road trip, were also announced.
The cruise winner will board a 47-day voyage on a Crown Princess Cruise from Friday, May 15 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, which will take you from Perth, Australia all the way to London, England. Guests can expect stops in South Africa, France, Spain, and Scandinavian destinations, among others.
The Blue Jays road trip will take fans to away games in Seattle, San Diego and San Francisco over a ten-day, nine-night trip that includes airfare, tickets to a game in each destination, and four-star hotel stays at each destination.

The most recent grand prize amounts won during the post-season include a $3.5-million jackpot in the American League Championship Series, a $1.2-million jackpot in the ALDS, and a Super September jackpot that totalled over $4.6 million.
Ticket purchases go toward the Jays Care Foundation, which helps Canadian kids “get active, build friendships and find a sense of belonging in their community,” according to JaysCare5050.com.
