Despite the odds being over a million to one, some lucky Brits have had their lives changed forever by scooping the jackpot.
– Joe Thwait, 49, and Jess Thwait, 46, from Gloucestershire, won a record-breaking £184 million jackpot in May 2022.
– An anonymous UK player bagged a £170 million win in October 2019, making them richer than the likes of Adele and Ed Sheeran. However, they did not wish to go public with their success.
– Colin and Chris Weir won £161 million in 2011. They splashed out on a stunning mansion, as well as a tractor and a computer. They donated much of their money and set up The Weir Charitable Trust in 2013. Colin died aged 71 in 2019 after a “short illness”.
– Adrian and Gillian Bayford scooped £148.6 million in August 2012 after buying a Lucky Dip from a convenience store. But, just 15 months after the jackpot win, Gillian divorced Adrian.

You have just 15 minutes left to buy tickets for tonight’s Euromillions and Thunderball draws.
We expect to receive the results of the Thunderball draw after 8pm, followed by the Euromillions at 8.45pm.

This is your 40-minute warning to get those final tickets bought before the draw closes at 7.30pm.
The Euromillions was launched in February 2004, with the first draw held on February 13 in Paris.
Initially, only the UK, France and Spain participated, with the Austrian, Belgian, Irish, Luxembourgish, Portuguese and Swiss lotteries joining for the October 8 draw.
From September 24, 2016, the number of lucky stars changed from a pool of 11 to a pool of 12 numbers, decreasing the jackpot-winning odds from 1:117 million to 1:140 million.
The largest ever jackpot – a whopping €250 million (£213.6 million) – has been won on several occasions in 2025, including on August 19, June 17 and March 28. These were won in France, Ireland and Austria, respectively.
The largest win for a UK player was on July 19, 2022, when the jackpot winner bagged €230 million (£195.7 million).
The UK National Lottery’s Thunderball is a fixed-prize lottery game. Players pick five main numbers and one “Thunderball” number for a chance to win a top prize of £500,000.
Those who match five main numbers win £5,000, while those with four main numbers and the Thunderball win £250. Around one in 13 people have a chance of winning £3 if they match just the Thunderball.
Select five main numbers from 1 to 39, and one Thunderball number from 1 to 14. You can choose your own numbers or opt for a “Lucky Dip” for a randomly generated selection.
Each line of numbers costs £1.00 to play. Draws take place four times a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
You win by matching your numbers to those drawn. The more numbers you match, the bigger the prize. The top prize is not shared among winners – each receives the full amount.
The prize details are as follows:
– 5 Main Numbers + 2 Lucky Stars – Jackpot (£132 million)
– 5 Main Numbers + 1 Lucky Star – over £130.5k
– 5 Main Numbers – over £13.5k
– 4 Main Numbers + 2 Lucky Stars – £844.70
– 4 Main Numbers + 1 Lucky Star – £77.80
– 3 Main Numbers + 2 Lucky Stars – £37.30

To play EuroMillions, players must select five main numbers from 1 to 50 and two “Lucky Star” numbers from 1 to 12. If you prefer randomly selected numbers, you can choose the “Lucky Dip” option instead of picking your own.
Tickets can be purchased at authorised retailers in participating countries or online through the official national lottery website. In the UK, playing one line costs £2.50.
EuroMillions draws take place in Paris every Tuesday and Friday evening.
In the UK, every EuroMillions entry automatically includes a unique “UK Millionaire Maker” code, entering you into an additional draw with a guaranteed £1 million winner in every draw.
Prizes must generally be claimed in the country where the ticket was purchased. In the UK, all game prizes must be claimed within 180 days after the draw.

£500k is also up for grabs in the Thunderball, which also closes at 7.30pm.
We will give you the results as soon as we get them, so stay tuned!
