A Washington man won big with a $150,000 lottery prize.
Kenneth Roundtree won the first top prize in the new Holiday Cashword game with a $5 scratch-off ticket.
"We are starting Christmas early this year," Roundtree said. "I love it." He purchased the winning ticket on Tuesday at Cratches Mini Mart on U.S. 264 West in Washington, following a "gut feeling" about the ticket. Roundtree claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Wednesday, November 5 taking home $107,626 after state and federal tax withholdings.
He plans to use his winnings to help his mother. The Holiday Cashword game, which debuted this week, still has two $150,000 prizes remaining. Additionally, Beaufort County received a $42 million grant from lottery funds to build a new elementary school.
