SECURE YOUR SEAT FOR THE 2025 SPORTS DIRECT WOMEN'S FAI CUP FINAL

Athlone Town are back in this showpiece event for the fourth consecutive year and they are determined to finish their season as double champions after recently retaining the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division title.
Bohemians, who first entered a women’s senior team into the League of Ireland in 2020, will be fired up for this game after contesting the All-Island Cup Final in August – where they lost in a penalty shootout to Wexford.
To secure their place in this year's Final, Athlone Town beat Terenure Rangers in the First Round, overcame Peamount United in the Quater-Finals and edged past Shamrock Rovers in the Semi-Finals. For Bohemians, they had to find a way past Wexford, then Newbridge Town and, finally, Treaty United.
This will be the sixth Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup Final to be held in Tallaght Stadium and the first to be broadcast live on TG4, after they covered both Semi-Final ties. It promises to be an entertaining game between two very good teams to bring the 2025 League of Ireland women’s season to a close in style.

Support is growing for Terry Smith as the next coach | News, Sports, Jobs – The Express – lockhaven.com

Nov 25, 2025
TIM WEIGHT/For The Express Penn State interim coach Terry Smith coaches during Saturday’s game against Nebraska at Beaver Stadium.
STATE COLLEGE — Terry Smith’s popularity has grown to the point where he can’t even go get his car washed in State College any longer without being recognized.
It’s clear there are many that hope the interim tag is dropped and he is named the next head coach to lead Penn State football.
“The way he handles his business and the way he leads us, I believe he should be the coach next year,” PSU running back Kaytron Allen said. “He deserves it.”
On the NBC telecast Saturday night during Penn State’s 37-10 win over Nebraska, Penn State letterman Michael Robinson expressed strong support for Smith to be the next coach. He said he has talked to many other lettermen who feel the same way.
“I’m very motivated by the support,” Smith said. “My players love me unconditionally. I love them unconditionally. Their support means everything to me.”
Fans chanting “Ter-ry” were very loud in the fourth quarter.
They were also pretty loud for Penn State’s entrance into the stadium when Smith had his granddaughter with him.
“How would you feel? It’s amazing,” he said. “She experienced something very few people get the opportunity to experience.”
Nebraska coach Matt Rhule gave Smith his foot in the door in the college game after Smith was the head coach at Gateway High School in Monroeville for 12 seasons.
Rhule hired Smith to be his wide receivers coach at Temple in 2013, and he has picked up on Smith’s emergence as the top choice for the Penn State job.
“(The team) has certainly rallied around him,” Rhule said.
Smith probably won even more points with the fan base when he wore a Joe Paterno pin on his Penn State jacket on Saturday night.
But is Smith ready to be a permanent head coach for the first time at the college level? He seems to think so.
“I was always ready to be a head coach,” Smith said. “I was a head coach for 12 years in high school. It’s a different level, but leading men is leading men. Coaching is coaching.
“I’m a leader of men. You’re witnessing it every day.”

4 Takeaways From the 49ers' Win Over the Panthers – FOX Sports

POPULAR SEARCHES <br> BROWSE BY <br>It may not have been pretty, but the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers-team">49ers</a> came out on top in a primetime game with NFC playoff implications.<br>San Francisco (8-4) took down Carolina (6-6) Monday night at Levi’s Stadium, 20-9. The 49ers move into the final NFC wild-card spot and are 1 ½ games behind the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/los-angeles-rams-team">Rams</a> in the NFC West. They have now won back-to-back games for the first time since September.<br>The <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/carolina-panthers-team">Panthers</a> have lost three of their last five games.  <br>Here are my takeaways:<br>Purdy threw three interceptions in the first half, two of which were passes behind the receiver (<a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/jauan-jennings-player">Jauan Jennings</a> and <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/ricky-pearsall-player">Ricky Pearsall</a>) and one at the front end zone, allowing the Panthers to make a play on the ball. On the third, Purdy didn't look like he saw cornerback <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/jaycee-horn-player">Jaycee Horn</a>, who came across the field to snag the pass. The Panthers' Pro Bowler had two of the interceptions.<br>The Niners have had backup <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/mac-jones-player">Mac Jones</a> play well this season in place of Purdy, who’s missed eight games due to injury. The franchise is committed to Purdy, who signed a five-year, $265 million extension in May. So, it must get cleaner football out of him down the stretch, as San Francisco looks to return to the playoffs after missing it in 2024. He’s had multiple interceptions in three of his four starts this season, including three giveaways twice. <br><a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/bryce-young-player">Bryce Young</a> threw for a franchise-record 448 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers’ overtime victory in Atlanta last week, leading many league observers to believe that Carolina’s passing attack could be turning a corner. This performance indicated that it may have just been more of an outlier.<br>Carolina struggled to move the ball through the air against San Francisco. Young didn’t have a completion that gained more than 20 yards in the first 44 minutes of game time, and he had his multi-interception game since Week 1. The offense failed to take advantage of three takeaways, scoring just three points off of San Francisco’s three turnovers, and went 1-of-7 on third down.<br>The Panthers had just 161 net passing yards, marking the 10th time in 12 games this season that they’ve thrown for fewer than 200 yards. <br>In his first game facing the Panthers, who traded him midway through the 2022 season, McCaffrey showed Carolina what it has missed — 31 touches (24 carries, seven catches) for 142 scrimmage yards and a touchdown. With 89 rushing yards and 53 receiving yards, the star tailback remains on track to surpass 1,000 yards rushing and receiving.<br>A frontrunner for comeback player of the year, McCaffrey leads the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl">NFL</a> in catches (81) and touches (298) entering Week 13. <br>With a win, Carolina would’ve moved one-half game ahead of Tampa Bay (6-5) for first place in the NFC South. Instead, the Panthers will be a one-half behind the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/tampa-bay-buccaneers-team">Bucs</a> with six weeks left in the regular season.<br>The Panthers still have both of their head-to-head games left against the Buccaneers in Weeks 16 and 18 this season.<br>As they look to stay in the driver’s seat for a playoff spot, the Niners have a favorable schedule over the next few weeks — at the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/cleveland-browns-team">Browns</a> (3-8) and their bye week before hosting the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/tennessee-titans-team">Titans</a> (1-10) — ahead of a tough stretch to the close the regular season: at the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/indianapolis-colts-team">Colts</a> (8-3), then home against the <a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/chicago-bears-team">Bears</a> (8-3) and Seahawks (8-3).<br>The Panthers will host the red-hot Rams (9-2) next Sunday before their Week 14 bye. They’ll finish 2025 with three division games, including two against the Bucs. <br><a class="entity" href="https://www.foxsports.com/personalities/ben-arthur"><i>Ben Arthur</i></a><i> is an NFL reporter for FOX Sports. Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers are in San Francisco facing Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey and the 49ers on “Monday Night Football.”
Follow our writers for news, updates and analysis on tonight's game.
Check out this week’s live coverage schedule on The Athletic
Q2 1:00 – 49ers 10, Panthers 3
The 49ers extend their lead thanks to a Matt Gay 47-yard field goal. But Brock Purdy throws three consecutive incomplete passes. Two of them were near interceptions.
He definitely isn't himself tonight. But San Francisco is up seven!
Q2 1:59 – 49ers 7, Panthers 3
The first play coming out of the two-minute warning, Brock Purdy fires a 25-yard pass to George Kittle, who makes the completion.
Big play for the 49ers as they are in Carolina territory!
Q2 2:00 – 49ers 7, Panthers 3
It's the two-minute warning of a turnover-laden first half. The 49ers have the ball.
Can they score before the half expires?
Brock Purdy has thrown at least three interceptions in a game twice before: He threw three in a loss to the Chiefs in October last season and four in a loss to the Ravens on Christmas Day in 2023.
The 49ers are 1-7 when Purdy throws multiple interceptions in a game, with the only win coming in the 2025 season opener against Seattle, compared to 24-7 in the rest of Purdy’s starts.
The Panthers have had four goal-to-go plays. They've netted three yards, plus an interception.
They have three points off three interceptions. They trail 7-3 after Ryan Fitzgerald's 25-yard field goal.
Q2 2:28 – 49ers 7, Panthers 3
The Panthers are unable to get into the end zone. The 49ers stop Carolina on third-and-goal, as Bryce Young throws to Chuba Hubbard, and the Panthers running back gets tackled for a loss of 3.
Ryan Fitzgerald kicks the chip-shot field goal to put Carolina on the board. Progress!
Q2 6:27 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
Oh my word! Brock Purdy throws his THIRD interception of the first half. Jaycee Horn records his second pick of the half.
Purdy throws in the middle of the field to nobody. Horn takes advantage and the Panthers start over again on offense.
A mind-boggling first half continues.
Q2 8:00 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
Christian McCaffrey fumbles the football. But the Carolina Panthers are unable to recover the football. Colton McKivitz comes up with it for the 49ers.
What a wild first half in Santa Clara!
Q2 8:12 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
On third-and-2, Bryce Young throws to the Panthers' leading receiver Tetairoa McMillan. The Panthers rookie, however, drops a catchable ball that would've been a first down.
Instead, another punting situation for Carolina. San Francisco starts again on offense at its 17-yard line.
Both QBs are making some baaad decisions. Brock Purdy could have run for the first and then some. Instead, tries to throw one into the end zone for Ricky Pearsall.
Mike Jackson says no thanks. INT. Panthers give up no points off the turnover. (Other than the 7 they should have had.)

Q2 9:41 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
Brock Purdy throws his SECOND interception of the first half. His pass was intended to Ricky Pearsall but it was picked off by Mike Jackson.
Once again, the Panthers prevent points on the board thanks to their defense. Can they take advantage on offense?
Brock Purdy didn't have any scrambles like that nine yarder last week. The way he ran that makes you think his sore toe is feeling a lot better.

Q2 12:24 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
On fourth-and-1, Brock Purdy sneaks for 3 yards to get the first down. Once again, San Francisco is rolling on offense on this drive.
The first quarter was marked by bad throws and a lot of Christian McCaffrey. The 49ers running back has 11 touches, putting him on pace to break his career-high of 37 he set when he was a member of the Panthers. Meanwhile, Brock Purdy, who had two wayward passes dropped by Cardinals defenders last week, didn’t get so lucky with a pass that was a step behind Jauan Jennings and picked off by Jaycee Horn.

Bryce Young had scrambled twice for 12 yards after the Panthers picked off Brock Purdy. On first-and-goal at the 1, the Panthers called a similar play — with Young rolling to his right with the option to throw or keep it. He tried to feather a throw to rookie tight end Mitchell Evans, but safety Ji'Ayir Brown intercepted him in the end zone. Tommy Tremble, another tight end, tried to jump for the ball like he thought it was intended for him. Not sure why the Panthers had two tight ends in the same area, but it wasn't a good result.

Q1 0:00 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
Through one quarter, the San Francisco 49ers lead by seven over the Carolina Panthers. Brock Purdy's TD pass to Jauan Jennings is the only scoring of the game.
That Bryce Young INT looms large in this game so far.
Q1 1:22 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
Bryce Young, what was that? With the Panthers inching closer to scoring, he throws a costly interception in the end zone to Ji'Ayir Brown.
Both quarterbacks throwing interceptions in the first quarter? Wowza!
Q1 3:40 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
I mentioned Jaycee Horn in the build up being the anchor of the Panthers secondary. He gets a HUGE interception off Brock Purdy to put the Panthers in favorable scoring position.
What a play!
Q1 3:49 – 49ers 7, Panthers 0
The Carolina Panthers have a three-and-out to start the game. An offensive holding penalty stymies the Panthers, which get short of the first down marker.
Carolina punts to San Francisco. The 49ers start at their 8-yard line.
