Lustig also insists joining a lottery pool, just like Powerball winner Theodorus Struyck is a great way to increase your chances of a win.
Lottery pools allow you to get a sliver of winnings after going in under one ticket with multiple other people.
This makes the initial cost of buying lottery tickets cheaper so you can join in on more chances to win.
However, you will have to split the winnings with all the other people involved.

Struyck, 65, came forward as the winner of the $1.765 billion Powerball jackpot prize on March 15 and achieved his win through a lottery pool.
He was the only person who publicly claimed the prize and it is currently unclear how many people won in the pool.
Struyck is characterized as a devoted family man hailing from a small mountain town with a population of approximately 3,000.
Prior to winning the Powerball, the recent lottery victor had refinanced his home, suggesting he might have faced financial challenges at that time.
Furthermore, there have been instances where scammers have posed as Struyck on social media platforms in an attempt to solicit personal information.

Lustig also recommends never using birthdays or anniversaries when choosing lotto numbers.
There can only be so many birthdays or anniversaries variations and he says this lowers your chances.
“If you pick your own numbers and only play birthdays and anniversaries, you’re splitting the pot with 20-40 people,” Lustig said.
“If you spread the numbers out across the whole track, you’ll either be the only winner or will split it with only one or two people.”

Capitol City Classic announces participating teams, including a potential 2027 NBA lottery pick – OregonLive.com
Some of the top basketball players in the nation will descend upon Salem this December for the Capitol City Classic.
On Thursday, the Capitol City Classic announced the full field of teams that will participate this year. The teams include a number of national powerhouses.
Phoenix-based St. Mary’s Catholic will be in Oregon for the tournament. The Knights won the 4A state championship last year and are led by five-star recruit Cameron Williams, who is a 6-foot-11 forward who has offers from Arizona, Duke and Texas. ESPN has Williams ranked as the No. 3 recruit in the country and he is projected to be a 2027 NBA Draft lottery pick.
Louisiana’s Ruston High School will also be in town for the tournament. The Bearcats are led by Ahmad Hudson, who is a five-star football recruit as a tight end and also considered a top recruit in basketball as a 6-foot-8 junior. Ruston also has four-star recruit Darren Ford, a 6-foot-2 guard with offers from Arizona State and Kansas State.
Rounding out the out-of-state teams is Missouri’s Webster Groves High School. The Statesmen won the Missouri Class 5 state championship last year and are led by 6-foot-3 junior Scottie Adkinson (who is committed to Missouri).
The Capitol City Classic’s Oregon teams will include Tualatin, Nelson, Sherwood, West Linn, Wilsonville, Benson, West Salem, West Albany, Central, Thurston, and local teams North Salem, Sprague and Western Christian.
The 2025 Capitol City Classic boys bracket will be played at Willamette University in Salem from Dec. 18-23.
At the same time, the girls will be showcasing their skills. The girls bracket will be held from Dec. 19-22 and will run at Chemeketa Community College.
The Capitol City Classic’s girls bracket is headlined by Oregon teams like South Medford, West Linn, Nelson, West Albany, South Albany, West Salem, Beaverton, Grants Pass, South Salem, Newberg, Amity, North Eugene, Cascade, Central and Sprague.
Utah’s Bingham High School is also scheduled to attend for the girls bracket.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Southern Nevada continues to solidify its status as the sports capital of the world, with the city of Henderson making a significant contribution to the local sports economy.
Following her 'State of the City Address' at the M Resort, Mayor Michelle Romero highlighted the upcoming West Henderson Field House, which is set to open within a year near St. Rose Parkway and Maryland Parkway.
David Paull, who worked with Kemper Sports on the development, emphasized the need for a sports tourism facility in the Las Vegas Valley, particularly for youth sports.
"The Las Vegas Valley is really short a sports tourism facility – specifically for youth," Paull said. The new venue aims to fill this gap by hosting large regional tournaments, attracting participants and their families from neighboring states and beyond.
The West Henderson Field House will span 160,000 square feet, featuring four basketball courts, two hybrid turf fields, an arcade, laser tag, and potentially bowling lanes. It is expected to accommodate nine sports for 1.1 million athletes annually, generating nearly $11 million in wages and $1.5 million in tax revenue.
Mayor Romero expressed optimism about the facility's economic impact, stating, "We don't even know the impact it will have at this point. We have projections, but incredible."
Plans are also underway for a similar complex in East Henderson, on the site of the former Fiesta Casino.
The project is a public-private partnership with Kemper Sports, offering Henderson residents a 20% discount on recreational amenities and the opportunity to host local sports tournaments.

Albert Clinton Jr. of Gastonia had a craving for a special holiday soda on Sunday so he went to the store, added a Fast Play ticket, and left with his mocktail and a bubbly $114,614 jackpot.
“We went there to get the Shirley Temple 7-Ups,” Clinton laughed.
He bought his lucky $2 Bingo Bucks ticket from the S’Mart on Bessemer City Road in Gastonia. At the time of his purchase, the jackpot stood at $573,070. Since Clinton bought a $2 ticket, he received 20% of the progressive jackpot.
“It was an unreal feeling,” Clinton said.
He arrived at lottery headquarters on Thursday to collect his prize and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $82,236.
Clinton plans to use his winnings to pay bills and have a good Christmas with his family.
“The holidays are here,” he said.
Fast Play features an instantly growing jackpot that increases with every ticket sold until it is won. As of Thursday afternoon, the jackpot stands at over $495,000 and counting.
