From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it’s investigating the financials of Elon Musk’s pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, ‘The A Word’, which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
A lucky ticket holder has won the record-setting EuroMillions jackpot, the National Lottery has revealed.
The latest National Lottery EuroMillions jackpot was set to be the highest in UK history if someone was able to name all five numbers and the two lucky stars. The jackpot reached its cap of €250 million – an estimated £210 million – for this latest draw.
The winning numbers were 24, 31, 34, 41 and 43, while the lucky stars were 06 and 08.
The EuroMillions website listed one jackpot winner around an hour after the numbers were revealed. While they are yet to claim their prize money, it has been revealed that the winning ticket was sold in France.
It follows an Irish family syndicate claiming a EuroMillions jackpot worth €250 million (£216 million) on 17 June.
The jackpot had reached the maximum amount on 6 June after rolling over several times.
Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, said: “Tuesday’s jackpot has the ability to transform not just the winner’s life, but the life of the friends and family around them.
“So, make sure you get a ticket to be in with a chance of banking Britain’s biggest ever win.”
Seven people also won the second prize, with five matching numbers and one star. The estimated prize for this is £130,554.30
Seven people also matched five numbers, netting £13,561.20.
A total of 78 people matched four numbers and two stars, with a prize of £844.70.

TQ Wuling to bring more EVs into Malaysia after Bingo – SoyaCincau

First announced in May, the TQ Wuling Bingo EV is still on track for a grand launch in Malaysia before the end of the year, as confirmed to SoyaCincau.com by TQ Wuling Malaysia’s representatives. However, that’s just the beginning of the story, though, as TQ Wuling is already planning to bring more Wuling EV models to Malaysia very soon.s
This was revealed during a briefing with Malaysian media at the SAIC-GM-Wuling headquarters in Liuzhao, China. As shown on the presentation slide, several models are already in the pipeline after Bingo, although the company did not provide more information about them.

The slide also noted that SAIC-GM-Wuling deemed Malaysia a highly potential market, especially with the rapid rise in EV adoption. All in all, it’s a sign that TQ Wuling serious about Malaysian market and planning to be here for the long run.
In Malaysia, the Bingo EV will be locally assembled by Tan Chong Motor at its Jalan Segambut plant. While the exact pricing and launch date have not yet been revealed, the compact EV will be available for under RM100,000.

The official specs sheet for the Malaysian variant of the Bingo EV has not yet been revealed to us. That being said, we were informed that there will be one major difference between our unit and Indonesia is the Malaysian version will feature 6 airbags instead of just 2.
In addition to that, Malaysia’s Bingo EV will also come with CCS2 port for DC charging and Type 2 for AC charging. Over in Indonesia, where the model is called Wuling Binguo EV, it is available in 3 trims, although the car is essentially divided into 2 variants.

One of them is called Long Range, which is powered by a 31.9kWh LFP battery and is able to deliver a CLTC-rated range of 333km, which is equivalent to around 273km under the WLTP standards. There is also the Premium Range, which is powered by a 37.9kWh battery, has a CLTC-rated range of 410km or 336km when converted to WLTP standards.
Charging-wise, the specs from Indonesia noted that the Long Range variant takes around 5.5 hours to charge from 20% to 100% via AC charging. As for the Premium Range, the charging time is slightly longer at 6.5 hours.

For DC charging, both variants took 35 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%. Regardless of the variant, all Binguo EV features a 50kW (67hp) electric motor, although the top speed for the Long Range model maxes out at 120km/h, while the Premium Range can hit 130km/h.
Other notable features included with the Wuling Binguo for the Indonesian market also include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, another 10.25-inch display for infotainment, 15-inch wheels, disc brakes, and 15 storage spaces.

Mega Millions Jackpot Grows To $843M For Fridays Drawing: What To Know In IL – Patch

The jackpot for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing has grown to the eighth-highest in the game’s history. At $843 million, the prize is fueling ticket sales among regular lottery players in Illinois and others dreaming about what they’d do if they became overnight multimillionaires.
The massive jackpot, which has a cash value of $391.7 million, grew after no one matched all six numbers in Tuesday’s drawing: the white balls 11, 14, 17, 50 and 57, plus the gold Mega Ball 6.
To play the lottery game in Illinois, residents 21 and older can buy tickets at any participating Illinois Lottery location or buy a ticket on the Illinois Lottery Mega Millions page. The next drawing will be held Nov. 7 at 10 p.m. CST.
Tickets are $5 each, with a built-in multiplier feature added in April that automatically increases non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. Previously, the base ticket was $2, and the multiplier was an optional $1 add-on in most states.
The rule changes were designed to produce larger, faster-growing jackpots and more non-jackpot prizes The changes slightly improved the odds of winning the jackpot, from 1 in 302,575,350 to 1 in 290,472,336, achieved by decreasing the gold Mega Ball pool from 25 to 24 numbers.
The odds of winning any prize also improved, from 1 in 24 to 1 in 23.
Friday’s drawing is the 38th since the jackpot was last won in Virginia on June 27. It’s the longest streak without a jackpot winner since the game began in 2002, and the previous record of 37 drawings was set in January 2021, when a $1.050 billion jackpot was won in Michigan.
Mega Millions said 606,046 winning tickets valued at more than $12.2 million were sold across all prize tiers in Tuesday’s drawing, including 12 tickets that matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball to win third-tier prizes ranging from $20,000 to $40,000, depending on their multiplier. Those tickets were sold in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wyoming.
In this jackpot run to date, there have been almost 11.7 million winning tickets at all levels, with total prizes exceeding $274 million due to significant enhancements to lower-tier prizes in changes made to the game last April, Mega Millions said
