Virginia Grandmother Wins Lottery with ChatGPT's Help, Donates Winnings to Charity – Head Topics

A Virginia grandmother used ChatGPT to pick her Powerball numbers and won $150,000. She donated the entire amount to three charities: the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, Shalom Farms, and the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
A Virginia grandmother who used ChatGPT to help pick her Powerball numbers struck it big and donated it all to charity. Carrie Edwards, of Midlothian, matched four of the first five numbers, plus the Powerball, in the Sept.
8 drawing, winning $50,000. But because she purchased the Power Play option, her prize tripled to $150,000, according to the Virginia Lottery. Edwards said she knew instantly what she wanted to do with the unexpected windfall. AFTER HURRICANE HELENE, VIRGINIA COUPLE WELCOMES NEW HOME BUILT BY VOLUNTEERS ‘I knew I needed to give it all away because I’ve been so blessed, and I want this to be an example of how other people, when they’re blessed, can bless other people,’ she said during a news conference. Her first donation went to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration , which supports research, education and family resources for those affected by the early-onset dementia. Edwards’ late husband, Steve, a firefighter and father, died from the disease. She said she wanted the gift to shine a light on other families fighting frontotemporal degeneration and the researchers working toward a cure for it. Her donation coincided with World FTD Awareness Week Sept. 21-27. Edwards also gave to Shalom Farms, a nonprofit farm and food justice organization in Richmond that distributes over 400,000 servings of fresh produce annually. ‘Her gift will ensure that families throughout Richmond continue to have access to high-quality, affordable fresh produce,’ Anna Ibrahim, executive director of Shalom Farms, said in a statement. Her third contribution went to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society , which provides financial, educational and emergency assistance to active-duty service members, veterans and their families. HOMELESS MAN WINS $1 MILLION ON LOTTERY SCRATCHER AT CALIFORNIA LIQUOR STORE: REPORT The gift honored her father, Capt. Peter Swanson, a Navy fighter pilot remembered for his ‘life of service and generosity.’ ‘He and his wife instilled in their children the importance of giving back, making giving to NMCRS a family tradition,’ the group wrote in a Facebook post. ‘Now, with Carrie’s extraordinary gift, the Swanson family’s commitment grows even stronger — ensuring Sailors, Marines, and their families receive the vital support they deserve.’ Edwards said the three organizations, which she works closely with, represent healing, service and community for her. ‘Shalom Farms heals through food and soil, AFTD brings hope through research and Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society carries forward the tradition of supporting military families in times of need,’ she said. Barbara Munford: Hope Mills woman wins over $150K Cash 5 jackpot: 'so excited' – ABC11

HOPE MILLS. N.C. (WTVD) — A Hope Mills woman won over $150,000 Cash 5 jackpot after playing the same number for six years.
Barbara Munford, a substitute teacher and grandmother of four from Hope Mills, discovered her win just after midnight on Monday.
"I was like, 'Oh my god, that's me, I won,'" she recalled. "I was so excited."
Overcome with emotion, Munford began to cry in her living room as she realized the significance of her win.
She purchased her lucky $1 ticket from Lucky Stop on Legion Road in Hope Mills. The odds of matching all five balls were 1 in 962,598.
After claiming her prize on Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh, Munford took home $110,616 after federal and state tax withholdings. She plans to use her winnings to pay bills.
Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina offering tickets at retail locations or through Online Play on the lottery's website and the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

Fourth UK EuroMillions ticket-holder scoops jackpot this year – check numbers – The Mirror

A Brit has become the fourth ticket-holder from the UK to scoop the EuroMillions jackpot, winning £25million.
Another Brit snapped up £26m last Friday, while a third player won £65m on Valentine's Day. The fourth winner took a whopping £83m with their ticket in January.
To claim the EuroMillions jackpot, participants must present their tickets showing they'd selected the winning numbers, which are between one and 50. Additionally, two Lucky Star numbers ranging from one to 12 must have been chosen.
Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: "Wow, it's been an exciting night for EuroMillions players, as a single UK ticket-holder has landed the amazing £25m jackpot!
"That's two UK EuroMillions jackpot wins in the space of a week, after another lucky player scooped the incredible £26m jackpot in last Friday's draw (3 October)."
The jackpot is paid out tax-free as a lump sum, and those bagging the life-changing sum are also provided with a dedicated team of winners' advisors from Allwyn to offer a range of emotional, financial and practical guidance following this life-altering moment.
UK players are being told to check their tickets for the winning numbers, which were 06, 07, 17, 20 and 21, with the Lucky Star numbers 01 and 10.
Back in August, lucky Lotto winner Paul Harvey shared details about the moment he revealed to his son he was a millionaire – but only after he went through a week without realising his good fortune.
The single dad – who recently underwent treatment for bowel cancer – is planning on taking his family on a holiday to Greece after bagging £1million on the EuroMillions. But first he needed to apply for passports for his children.
Paul, 51, from Attleborough, Norfolk, said: "Life hasn’t always been easy, but the kids mean the world to me, and they always come first. We have never been away abroad together, and I would love to take them both to Greece. But first we need to get our passports."
He added: “I am so proud of what the kids have achieved already in life. They both have big ideas about what they want to do when they leave school, and I cannot wait to help them in their chosen careers. It’s the important stuff like helping them to learn to drive and getting them a car and insurance so they can get to college and then work.
"My daughter has a driving test later this year and I would love to get her a second-hand Fiat 500 for her to practice in.”
