A second hold-up on a lotto booth occurred in Burmarrad on Tuesday evening, the police said, hours after a first robbery had taken place in Birkirkara.
In the second robbery, the police said that a man wearing a hoodie and armed with a knife entered the lotto booth in Triq Burmarrad at 6pm, demanding money from the cashier, a 43-year-old woman, before making off with the cash.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading an inquiry.
Earlier, at 3.30pm, a similar robbery had taken place in Birkirkara.
The police did not say whether they believe there is a connection between the two incidents.
