And while many things have changed, the manner in which people from all walks of life play Lotto has remained the same. They link numbers to their stories with the hope of a luck draw.
Birthdays, anniversaries and other significant dates are the basis for the choices that thousands of people make every week. This was the case for one woman from Żejtun last Saturday that bagged the massive Lotto Quaterno jackpot of €500,000.
The Lotto Quaterno jackpot of €500,000 was won on Saturday 18th February by a lucky player after adding two additional numbers to the habitual Ambo selection that she plays every Tuesday and Saturday prior to the Lotto draw.
The player, a woman, regularly selects meaningful numbers related to her relatives, however this time she chose to add two additional numbers through the Quick Pick option to participate in the Quaterno game type.
The winning ticket with the numbers 55-9-25-64 was bought from Żejtun and the winner has remained anonymous but did speak to the National Lottery.
“I asked my husband to check the Lotto results on Saturday evening and I immediately noticed that four of the five numbers match the chosen numbers on my ticket.
My husband was stunned to find out that we had just won €500,000,” she said.

Whilst holding the big cheque in hand, the Lotto Quaterno winner said that the prize money will be shared between her family to help them live more comfortably.
This big win coincidentally happened on the commemoration of the 100 years since the first Lotto draw symbolising the new campaign by National Lottery entitled, ‘Your Numbers Your Stories’
Since the start of the operation in July 2022, over €3 million was won from grand jackpots of Lotto Quaterno, Super5 and Super5 PLUS. Another player this week took home the Super5 PLUS jackpot of €100,000.
