Asked Trey Hendrickson if he has any expectations of what will happen at the trade deadline. He wasn't feeling (or looking for) much control over what's next:
💬 “I think this offseason I had a million different scenarios that could happen. The only one that happens is the one they approve. It’s kind of out of my hands and I just trust in the Lord through this process. Whatever he has in store it will be done.”

Asked Trey Hendrickson what he would say to anyone questioning his desire to play before the trade deadline:
💬 “I can’t control what people’s evaluations and questions of me are. I can only say that I have a standard for my play and I think they have a standard for their recovery process. The Jets game was a little early in hindsight. Having unfortunate setbacks like that are kind of annoying. This is uncharted territory for me over the last four years. Navigating these will be a day-to-day process in figuring out when it is best and when the time is to get back to doing what I love.”
Sept. 8: Jacksonville Jaguars trade running back Tank Bigsby to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for 2026 fifth- and sixth-round picks.
Sept. 13: New England Patriots trade wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk and a 2028 seventh-round draft pick to the New Orleans Saints for a 2027 sixth-round pick.
Sept. 23: Tennessee Titans trade second-year cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Sept. 29: Houston Texans trade offensive tackle Cam Robinson and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for 2027 sixth-round pick.
Oct. 7: Cleveland Browns trade quarterback Joe Flacco and a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick.
Oct. 7: Baltimore Ravens trade edge rusher Odafe Oweh and a 2027 seventh-round pick to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for safety Alohi Gilman and a 2026 fifth-round pick.
Oct. 8: Jacksonville Jaguars trade cornerback Tyson Campbell and a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for cornerback Greg Newsome II and a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons: It didn’t look like Cousins had a whole lot left in the tank when he filled in for Michael Penix Jr. in Week 8, but it’s a small sample and he’s a veteran name who could attract some interest.
Russell Wilson, New York Giants: Speaking of veteran quarterbacks who don’t appear to have much left in the tank … Jaxson Dart has taken control of the starting job in the Big Apple and Jameis Winston is a competent backup.

Asked if he anticipates the Ravens making a move before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, John Harbaugh said, “No way to know. We’ll see what happens.”

Appearing on SiriusXM, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones just said Dallas has made a trade and could possibly make a couple of more before tomorrow’s deadline. He declined to share who is involved in the trade.
Jones: “Immediately it will have him on the field and it will address some of the things."
Jermaine Johnson, New York Jets: The Jets have reportedly been getting calls inquiring about Johnson.
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens looked good in Lamar Jackson’s return on Thursday, and Andrews was a beneficiary, reeling in a couple of touchdowns. But the veteran tight end is in a contract year and there are other tight ends on the roster who have proven to be capable in the offense.
Logan Wilson, Cincinnati Bengals: The veteran linebacker has requested a trade out of Cincinnati.
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers: Rico Dowdle’s emergence has made Hubbard expendable.
Quinnen Williams, New York Jets: According to Dianna Russini, teams have been showing interest in the star defensive tackle, but the price the Jets are asking for has been massive.
Bradley Chubb, Miami Dolphins: It’s a lost season for the Dolphins, who could be looking at some major changes in the organization after already parting ways with general manager Chris Grier. Approaching the wrong side of 30 next season, Chubb is at a point where his greatest value may be whatever draft picks Miami can get in return for him.
Breece Hall, New York Jets: The star running back hasn’t exactly shied away from being included in the trade dialogue, and it’s fair to wonder how he fits on the Jets with where the organization is headed.
Brian Thomas Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars: According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Jaguars are listening on calls for their wide receiver, though a move feels unlikely.
Jakobi Meyers, Las Vegas Raiders: Few players have been as open as Meyers has been about his desire to be traded. Will the Raiders oblige?
Trey Hendrickson, Cincinnati Bengals: After a messy summer of negotiations, Hendrickson stayed with the Bengals on a contract that expires after this season. With the team 3-6 after Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to the Chicago Bears and playoff odds down to just 2 percent according to The Athletic’s playoff simulator, will the Bengals try to get something in return?
Every year, dozens of NFL players are traded, like chess pieces easily moved from square to square.
Only, these “pieces” are actual humans, whose athletic abilities are glorified on game days while their real lives away from the field are less visible.
It’s normal for them to be uprooted on a moment’s notice, ending their tenure with one team hours before starting with another. It’s expected. And it will happen again in the hours leading up to Tuesday’s trade deadline (4 p.m. ET).
But for the thousands of players who have been involved in trade deals, rarely does any part of it feel normal or expected.

Eric DeCosta likes to add at the trade deadline. Since becoming the Baltimore Ravens’ general manager in 2019, he has made at least one deadline deal in five of seven seasons. The exceptions were in 2021 and 2023.
At least in 2023, there were a couple of close calls. The Ravens were far down the road on trades involving Derrick Henry and Chase Young, but the Tennessee Titans got cold feet on the first one, and Baltimore pulled out of the second one due to Young’s health concerns.
DeCosta’s trade deadline additions have included cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Tre’Davious White, pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue, middle linebacker Roquan Smith and wide receiver Diontae Johnson. He lengthened that list this season, acquiring safety Alohi Gilman from the Los Angeles Chargers last month in a deal that sent outside linebacker Odafe Oweh to Southern California.
Saturday’s trade of cornerback Jaire Alexander to the Philadelphia Eagles in a pick exchange certainly suggests that DeCosta isn’t done ahead of Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline. The deal nets the Ravens a sixth-round pick in 2026, increasing their chest of tradeable draft capital. It also adds about $2 million of cap space to the team’s coffers to help accommodate outside additions.

The Dolphins need to clear cap space, and multiple teams need help pressuring the quarterback after injuries and/or retirements dealt them a blow. The two-time Pro Bowl selection missed the entire 2024 season while recovering from a torn ACL, but already has four sacks in six games as one of the few bright spots for Miami. With a potential out on his contract after this season, Bradley Chubb could be a pretty attractive target.

The trade: Pittsburgh Steelers acquire LB Preston Smith from Green Bay Packers for 2025 seventh-round pick
Verdict: Good, not great. Smith came at a good value as far as rentals go. He became a member of the Steelers’ rotation, recording 13 tackles and two sacks and a fumble recovery in eight games. However, Pittsburgh officials weren’t impressed enough and released Smith in the offseason to save $12 million in cap space.
